Microsoft Brings Streaming Video To Xbox 360

Microsoft finally got around to launching a streaming video service for the Xbox 360. It had long been Microsoft’s goal to transform the gaming device into an entertainment hub. And today the company took its first step towards realizing that goal. Streaming video is coming to the Xbox this holday season.

Xbox 360 owners in the US will be able to stream video from services like Comcast Xfinity, Verizon FiOS, HBO Go, Bravo, YouTube, Hulu, The Today Show and ESPN. UK gamers will be able to access the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, Lovefilm and a few others.

Microsoft is also introducing a companion app for the Windows Phone. The app will let you control your Xbox 360 from your Windows device. This is similar to Apple’s Remote app, which lets users wirelessly control their entertainment system from any iOS device.
